Our Ethics and Values
Statement From the Hosts Concerning Ethical Use of Airbnb and STR’s:
We are aware of certain political sensitivities regarding short term vacation rentals in general and Airbnb specifically.
As hosts, we are mindful about the potential impact of “STR”’s in the neighborhood and seek to make every visit count, every guest feel special, and to take every hosting occasion as an opportunity to bring business into the neighborhood as well as showcase the best features of Chicago (in light of recent portrayals of Chicago in the national media) - Airbnb allows us a vehicle to afford and fund our property, pay our taxes, and take good care of our asset while maintaining an ethical and responsible business that celebrates the culture in our local neighborhood, instead of replacing it.
The space you’re occupying is a private unit inside of our personal home; you will enjoy the same respect that we afford any personal friend or family member who may also use the guest suite. We do not operate a cliche and austere Airbnb - we provide an informed and intentional hosting experience that educates visitors about the culture, history, and diversity of America’s most international city. We celebrate the opportunities that this affords us, guests and hosts alike.
Hospitality is important to us, likewise, our neighbors and their equality are just as important.
When we are able, we will donate back to our community in numerous ways through various non-profits, some local, some not, but all aligning with our values.
We firmly believe in fairness, integrity, and respect for all. These are fundamental values that we base not only our private business but our daily lives around.

From their website: ‘The Garfield Park Conservatory in Chicago, Illinois is one of the largest and most stunning conservatories in the nation. Often referred to as “landscape art under glass,” the Garfield Park Conservatory occupies two acres of public greenhouse space and 10 acres of outdoor gardens. Garfield Park Conservatory is located in Garfield Park — an 184-acre site located on Chicago’s redeveloping Westside designed as a pleasure ground by William LeBaron Jenney — serving as the centerpiece of the three great original Westside parks (Humboldt, Garfield, and Douglas).’
