Meet Our Team

Prince Paemon ‘Nathan’ Kepner

All hail Paemon!

Apparently rescued in Kentucky, Paemon was adopted from our friends at the Catcade.

He is Colin’s favorite cat and deals with a tremendous amount of harassment due to this.

His given name was Nathan.

He loves to cuddle with Colin.

His is 6 years old at the date of this entry.

The Backbone

Queen Beatrix Maleficent Bat

Beatrix was name by her foster father after the queen of the Netherlands, and she earned the rest of her titles. She was the runt of her litter and has remained a waif.

Her nickname is Beatzie.

She came from a very unusual adoption agency who will remain unnamed.

She is the oldest of the cats even though she was adopted third. She has big middle child energy.

We believe she is 14 years old.

The Diva
The Muse

Vespertine Aurora Vanecko

Vesper is our first cat, and she very much belongs to James. They are a bonded pair.

Vesper was adopted from a suburban shelter called Catnap from the Heart. She used to have two snaggle teeth until one fell out. She is unbothered by it, but we miss it.

She is one of the more cuddly cats.

She is also 14, but just a little younger than Beatzie.

The Gentleman

Sir Shadow Drake

Shadow came from the same shelter as Vesper only a few months following her. We thought she needed a kitten companion, and it turned out, no, no she did not.

He was very precocious as a young man but is now, in fact, one of the most relaxed and well-behaved cats in the house, (aside from Vesper.)

He has a white spot on his chest and one white toe on his back foot.

He was originally named Drake at the shelter, but James went and came up with the very creative name of Shadow instead.

He is just about to turn 14 as well.

Miscellaneous Cats

Jiji

Jiji…Well what is there to say about Jiji.

He is one of the accidental cats.

He fell out of the ceiling at Colin’s work. Initially, a co-worker was planning to take care of him and then dropped him off at the Solar Lodge when they couldn’t make it work.

He really likes to play with dripping water and he is pretty rotund. (We chose a flattering picture for him here as to not embarrass him too much.)

He’s about 2 years old. He’s been relocated to the first floor to live with Jackie, so you’ll see him from the front windows as you come and go. He can be quite loud.

The Intern

Elm and Acorn

These cats are criminals living in our house.

They are probably 3 and 2 years old respectively.

They have a very complicated back story. They also have a brother named Oak who lives with Jackie on the first floor.

Elm and Acorn came from a cemetery utility garage their mother had taken up residence in. The problem was that their mother was unspayed and had many, many litters of kittens in that garage.

As much as everyone loves to see little kittens running around, it’s very different when full grown cats are all over and peeing on all the machinery.

The management was threatening to “do something” about the cats when James started gathering up as many of them as possible to be spayed and neutered at the PAWS Lurie Clinic.

These two, (with their older brother) got a free ride to the housecat life. They are not social and don’t want to be pet and run away from anyone.

They love the other cats though. Paemon is especially fond of them and treats them like his pets.

If anyone wants a challenge and would like to take them home, please inquire.

The Other, Other Cat

Oak

Oak is the other cemetery cat that lives with Jackie on the first floor.

Someone said he looks like Anna Taylor-Joy and it’s hard to unsee it.
